The Richmond Hospice Association was founded in March 1986. Our mission for over 31 years has been to provide emotional and social support for patients and family members coping with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness. We have fulfilled our mandate of providing training for volunteers who visit clients in a variety of settings, including home, hospital, hospice and community care facilities. Our services have included personal visits, bereavement support and education to promote an understanding of death as the final stage of living.

After long consideration, the Richmond Hospice Association will be closing as of June 30, 2017. A transition to a streamlined centralization of volunteer resources will occur, ultimately better serving hospice families and the volunteers who care for them.

Volunteers will continue to provide support to hospice families through the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House. While the Richmond Hospice Association will be winding down, the efforts of volunteers to assist hospice patients will carry on. In addition, the RHA's long-time volunteer coordinator and RHA's bereavement counsellor will continue to support volunteer services and hospice clients as team members of the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House.

It has truly been an honour over the last three decades to serve the Richmond Hospital and Rotary Hospice House by providing volunteer and educational programs, raising funds and awareness, and working together to make a difference in the lives of so many enduring a difficult journey. On behalf of everyone at the Richmond Hospice Association, we offer sincere thanks for your passion, commitment and support of our Association.
