Our Services

  • Emotional and social support through personal visits at the Richmond Hospital and Rotary Hospice House, in the home and in community care facilities.
  • Individual and group bereavement counselling by a registered clinical counsellor.
  • Weekly Bereavement Walking Group
  • Weekly Drop In Relaxation Therapy Group
  • Grief and loss volunteer support for family and friends.
  • Community Education and Public Awareness regarding hospice/palliative care resources in Richmond.

Bereavement Program

The Richmond Hospice Association understands that grief is a journey that not all can travel alone. We offer support, compassion, and respect as we work with you to provide quality bereavement counselling.

The inclusive and non-judgmental environment of our groups allows for sharing and support from others who have the shared experience of grief.

Individual Counselling

  • Up to 10 sessions of individual counselling

Telephone Support

  • Counselling or support can be arranged as appropriate

"Understanding Your Grief" Group

  • 6 session, bi-weekly group
  • Appropriate for those at least 3 to 6 months past their loss

Spousal Loss Group

  • 6 session, bi-weekly group
  • Appropriate for those at least 3 to 6 months past their loss

Bereavement Walking Group

  • Runs in 10 week sessions with 3 week breaks
  • Volunteer led
  • Tuesdays at Garry Point Park

Relaxation Group

  • Runs year round with the exception of July and August
  • Volunteer led
  • Fridays at the Garratt Wellness Centre

All programs and groups require registration and an intake with the Bereavement Counsellor. There are no fees for our programs. Open to all residents of Richmond.
